Announcer app
Using Announcer
A live, read-only scoreboard built for calling the event over the PA.
What it does
Announcer connects to the running Timing app the same automatic way LiveTiming does, and shows a continuously updating view of the event built for someone talking on the PA — who's coming up, who just crossed the finish, and how close the competition is. It doesn't change anything in Timing; it's read-only.
Starting it
- Make sure Timing is already running on the network.
- Launch Announcer. It finds Timing automatically; if it can't, you'll see the same “Is Timing running?” prompt described in Troubleshooting.
The four panels
| Panel | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Next to Finish | Every staged and on-course car in running order, with their class/status, current position, best time so far, gap up to the car ahead of them, and gap to first place — so you always know who's about to run and what they'd need to move up. |
| Most Recent Finish | The driver who most recently finished, and whether their run moved them up, down, or held their position in class. |
| Recent Runs | A running list of completed runs (class and car number) to scroll back through. |
| Class Results | The full result grid for one class — every driver in that class, every run time, with penalties and DNFs marked. |
Click any driver in Next to Finish or Most Recent Finish to load that driver's class into the Class Results panel below.
Reading the numbers
In Next to Finish, the gap shown “up” to the next car and to first
place updates live as class results change elsewhere in the event, not just when that driver runs.
Indexed classes
For an indexed class, driver rows show the index class alongside the car's own class, and times are shown both raw and indexed so you can call either number.
