Running an Event
The day-to-day work of staging, timing, and correcting runs while cars are on course.
The lifecycle of a run
Every entry in the run list moves through the same states:
Staged → On Course → Finished (or DNF)
Staging a driver
Do either of these — both add the driver to the run list as staged:
- Type their car number into the Stage Car box and select Stage (or press Enter). You can start typing anywhere in the window and focus jumps to this box automatically.
- Scan their bib with a connected scanner — a success tone confirms it worked. A failure tone means the code wasn't recognized, or that driver is already staged/on course.
Starting and finishing
With a timer connected, start and finish events come from the hardware automatically as cars run. If you need to enter a time by hand (no timer, or a missed signal), use:
- Alt+S — manually start the selected car's run, using the current time.
- Alt+F — manually finish the selected car's run.
Split times (if enabled for the event) are recorded automatically from the timer as a car passes each split point.
Fixing a mistake
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Timer fired a false start | Alt+Shift+S — Undo Start |
| Timer fired a false finish | Alt+Shift+F — Undo Finish |
| Wrong time recorded entirely | Ctrl+R — Clear Time, then re-enter or re-run |
| Driver hit a cone / missed it | + / - — add or remove one cone penalty |
| Driver missed a gate / it was corrected | Ctrl++ / Ctrl+- — add or remove one gate penalty (only when gate penalties are enabled) |
| Car didn't complete the course | Ctrl+D — toggle DNF |
| Entry needs to run in a different order | Alt+↑ / Alt+↓ — move the selected entry up or down (only among cars that haven't finished yet) |
| Entry shouldn't be in the list at all | Ctrl+X — Remove (asks to confirm; see below) |

Editing driver/class info inline
You can edit a car's number or class directly in the run list grid while it's staged. Changing a value there updates the driver's record for the rest of the event.
Audit Grid View
Edit › Audit Grid View shows a raw, editable log of everything recorded for the run group — useful for reviewing or correcting entries after the fact rather than mid-run. Removing an entry there also asks for confirmation.
Resetting the event
Reset Event clears every car currently staged or on course for the active run group (it does not delete finished runs). Use it if a run group needs to start over — you'll be asked to confirm first, since it can't be undone.
Show Finish Times
Timer › Show Finish Times opens a separate window listing recent finish times — handy as a second monitor/display at grid or for a course worker to glance at.
